Thesis and General Examination
The General Examination
All doctoral candidates are required to pass the general examination in two parts. Part I is a written test based on the core program, a coherent set of five subjects that defines the candidate's area of specialization. Part II consists of the preparation of a written research proposal and the oral presentation and defense of the proposed research.

Submitting a Thesis
All CEE graduate students must submit a thesis based on their research.
