Undergraduate Minors

Electing another course as your major does not mean you cannot learn about civil and environmental engineering. From civil and environmental systems, civil engineering and environmental engineering science, the three minors offered by CEE will expand your horizons and your education.

The Minor in Civil and Environmental Systems

The Civil and Environmental Systems minor is brand new for 2016-2017 and is unique because it combines principles and knowledge from across civil, environmental and systems engineering into a hyper-concentrated study focused on both the built and natural worlds.

The Minor in Civil and Environmental Systems consists of the following subjects:
1.011     Project Evaluation and Management
1.020     Principles of Energy and Management
1.022     Urban Networks
1.041     Transportation Systems Modeling
1.075     Water Resource Systems
1.101     Introduction to Civil and Environmental Engineering Design I
1.102     Introduction to Civil and Environmental Engineering Design II

The Minor in Civil Engineering

The Civil Engineering Minor offers subjects that reflect the wide extent of education that now encompasses the field, including solid and fluid mechanics, materials, and new labs.

The Minor in Civil Engineering consists of the following subjects:
1.035     Multiscale Characterization of Materials
1.036     Structural Mechanics and Design
1.050     Solid Mechanics
1.060A   Fluid Mechanics I
1.060B   Fluid Mechanics II
1.101     Introduction to Civil and Environmental Engineering Design I
1.102     Introduction to Civil and Environmental Engineering Design II

The Minor in Environmental Engineering Science

The Environmental Engineering Science Minor makes the popular Traveling Research Environmental Experiences (TREX) fieldwork during the Independent Activities Period (IAP) a program requirement, because field research has proved essential to the CEE educational experience.

The Minor in Environmental Engineering Science consists of the following subjects:
1.018AJ  Fundamentals of Ecology I
1.060A   Fluid Mechanics I
1.061A   Transport Processes in the Environment I
1.070AJ  Introduction to Hydrology and Water Resources
1.089A   Environmental Microbiology
1.091     Traveling Research Environmental eXperience (TREX): Fieldwork
1.092     Traveling Research Environmental eXperience (TREX): Fieldwork Analysis and Communication
1.106     Environmental Fluid Transport Processes and Hydrology Laboratory
1.107     Environmental Chemistry and Biology Laboratory
