Explore science with the MIT Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering! We'll tackle different science questions each month with hands-on learning and demonstrations. Each month, we'll introduce a new topic, talk about your questions, and play some games to explore more! Ages 6-8.

Join the Cambridge-wide K-8 Family STEAM Night featuring hands-on STEAM activities. This event is held at Putnam Ave Upper School.

Cambridge Science Festival

A family-friendly science extravaganza, Carnival is a beloved yearly highlight of the Cambridge STEAM calendar! Over 100 activity booths, demonstrations, live music, and installations, including the ever-popular Robot Petting Zoo, come together for one day. Carnival is a STEAM-themed adventure playground for inquisitive visitors of all ages. We can't wait to see you there and celebrate our diverse, creative community together!

DSES Admissions Info Session

Within the Data Science for Engineering Systems (DSES) track of the MEng degree program, students gain expertise in data science and computational modeling tools for improving the sustainability and resilience of next generation societal-scale infrastructure systems. Students pursue curriculum, research and specialized training that prepare them for careers in sustainable and resilient design of energy systems, materials and structures, supply chains, and urban systems.

CEE will be participating in the STEAMitUP event aimed at K-8 students in North and East Cambridge. The hands-on STEAM activities led by grad students, include "Build a Wind Turbine" and "You won't Be Leaf it" about plant pigments and photosynthesis.

Ralph M. Parsons Laboratory Seminar Series: The biogeography of Amazon forest vulnerability and resilience to droughts

Please join us for the Ralph M. Parsons Laboratory Environmental Science Seminar Series with Professor Scott Saleska from the University of Arizona. In this talk, Saleska will  will present a new approach for combining forest plot data and remote-sensing of Amazon forest photosynthetic response with ground-based tree demography to identify a "biogeography" of Amazon forest drought response that emerges from different forest ecotypes across the basin.   The seminar is in-person at 15 Vassar Street, 48-316.
