Science Saturday at the Boston Public Library
CEE students and researchers lead a scientific exploration at the Boston Public Library. Past topics have ranged from leaf chromatography to structural engineering and everything in between!
CEE Holiday Party
Join us for our annual CEE Holiday Party on Thursday, December 5 from 5-8 PM in the Media Lab (E14-648). Please RSVP by November 28.
Pierce Laboratory Seminar Series & MMEC Seminar Series: Analysis and Optimization of Extruded Thin-Walled Beams
Please join us for the Henry L. Pierce Laboratory Seminar Series with Haim Waisman, Professor and Chair of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at Columbia University. In this talk, Waisman will address "Analysis and Optimization of Extruded Thin-Walled Beams." Thin-walled beams are widely used in engineering due to their favorable stiffness-to-volume ratio, but they are also prone to complex mechanics like buckling, warping, and fracture. In this seminar, he will present a new topology optimization framework for designing thin-walled beams manufactured by extrusion This seminar is in person in 3-370.
Ralph M. Parsons Laboratory Seminar Series
Please join us for the Ralph M. Parsons Laboratory Environmental Science Seminar Series with Tom Darrah from Ohio State University. The seminar is in-person at 15 Vassar Street, 48-316.
Ralph M. Parsons Laboratory Seminar Series
Please join us for the Ralph M. Parsons Laboratory Environmental Science Seminar Series with Taylor Perron from MIT Department of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences. The seminar is in-person at 15 Vassar Street, 48-316.
Pierce Laboratory Seminar Series: Nonlinear Mechanics of Soft Fibrous Materials
Please join us for the Henry L. Pierce Laboratory Seminar Series with Luis Dorfmann, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Biomedical Engineering at Tufts University. Soft fibrous materials are composites with highly flexible filaments embedded in a soft base matrix. In this talk, Dorfmann will present overviews of active materials and connective tissue. This seminar is in person in Building 1 Room 131.
MIT CEE Student Life Panel
Join us to learn more about graduate student life in MIT's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. Connect with current MIT CEE graduate students and learn more about their experiences in the the programs, living in Boston/Cambridge, and life outside of the lab. Please note that our student panelists will not be able to answer admissions questions or give advice. This is purely to gain insight to the student life and culture at MIT.
Science Saturday at Boston Public Library
CEE grad students will be leading STEM activities on Science Saturday at the Boston Public Library. Learn about leaf chromatography or how to build a wind turbine.
Ralph M. Parsons Laboratory Seminar Series: Sunlight, sediment, and slime: Ecohydraulics in the costal zone
Please join us for the Ralph M. Parsons Laboratory Environmental Science Seminar Series with Professor Tracy Mandel from University of New Hampshire. In this talk, Mandel will cover three important problems in vegetative coastal ecosystems and how we study these problems using laboratory, field, and numerical approaches. The seminar is in-person at 15 Vassar Street, 48-316.
