Please join us for the Henry L. Pierce Laboratory Seminar Series with Haim Waisman, Professor and Chair of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering Mechanics at Columbia University. In this talk, Waisman will address "Analysis and Optimization of Extruded Thin-Walled Beams." Thin-walled beams are widely used in engineering due to their favorable stiffness-to-volume ratio, but they are also prone to complex mechanics like buckling, warping, and fracture. In this seminar, he will present a new topology optimization framework for designing thin-walled beams manufactured by extrusion  This seminar is in person in 3-370.
