CEE highlighted in latest edition of the MIT Spectrum
Four CEE faculty members were featured in the latest edition of the MIT Spectrum. Associate Professor Colette Heald, a speaker at this year’s World Economic Forum in Davos, was highlighted for a recent study in which she identified the interaction of rising temperatures and air pollution as a threat to global food security. Andrew Whittle, professor, describes his efforts to increase the world’s water supply through the elimination water loss by leaks with the use of wireless sensors in water pipes. Professor Dara Entekhabi is featured for spearheading the science team behind NASA’s SMAP – a satellite that produces global high-resolution observations of soil moisture from space. Assistant Professor Carolina Osorio discusses her work optimizing transportation agencies’ planning and operations decisions to lessen congestion and provide more efficient fuel consumption and fewer emissions.
