Assistant Professor Otto Cordero, postdoc Gabriel Leventhal, graduate student Carles Boix and research affiliate Tim Enke, published a new paper in Nature Microbiology, showing that replicate microbial communities assemble into different community types depending on the specific fine-scale genetic strain identity of the individual community members. Their results show that strain-level differences in bacterial species can be important drivers of community organization and dynamics. Read more here.
