Faculty and researchers across MIT’s School of Engineering receive many awards in recognition of their scholarship, service, and overall excellence. The School of Engineering periodically recognizes their achievements by highlighting the honors, prizes, and medals won by faculty and research scientists working in our academic departments, labs, and centers.
- Mohammad Alizadeh in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering received the ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award on May 3.
- Daniel G. Anderson in the Department of Chemical Engineering received the Wilhelm Exner Medal 2023 on April 10.
- Lydia Bourouiba in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Institute for Medical Science and Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering received the 2023 Paul Gray Award for Public Service on May 17.
- Oral Buyukozturk in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering received the Mustafa Inan Special Award for Excellence in Science and Engineering on Jan. 23, and was named an ASCE Engineering Mechanics Institute Fellow on April 4.
- Gang Chen in the Department of Mechanical Engineering was named a National Academy of Sciences Member on May 2.
- Otto Cordero in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering was named a 2023 Simons Investigators in Aquatic Microbial Ecology on May 9.
- David Des Marais in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering received the National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award on April 11.
- Ariel Furst in the Department of Chemical Engineering received the Camille Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award on May 8.
- Manya Ghobadi in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received the ACM-W Rising Star Award on April 23.
- Rafael Gómez-Bombarelli in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering was named a 2023 Sloan Research Fellow on May 1.
- Song Han in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was named a 2023 Sloan Research Fellow on May 1.
- Asegun Henry in the Department of Mechanical Engineering received The Alan T. Waterman Award on May 5.
- Piotr Indyk in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences on April 19.
- Yael Tauman Kalai in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received the 2022 ACM Prize in Computing on April 12.
- Dina Katabi in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science was named a National Academy of Sciences Member on May 2.
- Gareth McKinley in the Department of Mechanical Engineering was elected as a Corresponding Member of the Australian Academy of Science on May 25.
- Bradley Olsen in the Department of Chemical Engineering was named a Fulbright Amazonia Scholar on May 8.
- David Perreault in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received the 2024 IEEE William E. Newell Power Electronics Award on June 30.
- Jonathan Ragan-Kelley in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science named a 2023 Sloan Research Fellow on May 1.

- Devavrat Shah in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science received the 20th USENIX Symposium on Networked Systems Design and Implementation Best Paper Award on April 19.
- Gregory Stephanopoulos in the Department of Chemical Engineering was named a National Academy of Sciences Member on May 2.
- Evelyn Wang in the Department of Mechanical Engineering was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences on April 19.
