Freshmen Have a Taste of Course 1 Research
A group of 19 freshmen spent the 2015 IAP exploring a variety of Course 1 research as part of the CEE debut of its Mini-UROP (Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program). Organized by Course 1 graduate students Fatima Hussain ’11 and Julia Hopkins ’12, participating freshman spent four weeks conducting diverse individual research projects under the guidance of CEE graduate student and postdoc mentors. “The Mini-UROPs focus on the emphasis of in-depth research into one particular project,” said Hussain. “Only through research did we [as undergraduates] find out what exactly Course 1 really means and we feel it is really important to introduce freshmen to Course 1 research, in an engaging way.” For the full story, read the MIT News article.
