Kai Pan receives the Shoji Award

The Shoji Prize for Innovation in IT in Civil Engineering was presented to doctoral student Kai Pan for his accomplishments in the development and application of a Smooth Particle Hydrodynamic code to the area of rogue wave impact on offshore structures. Dr. Shoji, a supporter of CEE research since 1991 and one of the founding companies of the Intelligent Engineering Systems Laboratory, was a visiting professor in the department in 2006 and has spent several months doing research on IT Automation in the Construction Industry. In 2011, he sponsored a prize to be given to a student for Innovation in IT in Civil Engineering – The Shoji Award.
