A new faculty member, a former Bosnian refugee, and a “man of many countries”, Assistant Professor Admir Masic was recently featured in the MIT News. With a research interest in the investigation of the structural and mechanical properties of materials, Masic’s professional pursuits cover interdisciplinary research into materials and ways to make them more resilient. “There’s so much we have yet to discover that we can apply to help mitigate material degradation and build resilience,” he said. “Civilization is at a new inflection point and we need to act now.” Masic says his vision for his teaching is to merge as much of the real world with work done in the lab as possible. Read the profile.
