On May 19, CEE Department Head Markus Buehler engaged global alumni in an online Faculty Forum hosted by the Alumni Association. Buehler discussed the breadth of Course 1 research, shared his vision for education and student leadership, and described Institute-wide research initiatives. In addition, Buehler addressed multiple questions from the audience. “The work being done by civil and environmental engineers has visible, tangible impacts on the world,” he said during the forum. “Big Engineering – our initiative in Course 1 – means to engineer large scale solutions from fundamental building blocks.” CEE couples science and engineering to address natural and built systems, pushing the boundaries of ecology, resources, structures, and systems to enhance civilization.
