Doctoral candidate Zeid Alghareeb, who works with Professor John Williams in the MIT Geospatial Data Center, has received the 2014 Dr. Mikio Shoji Award for Innovation in Information Technology. The award is named for Mikio Shoji, a longtime corporate supporter of CEE research who personally presented the plaque to Alghareeb at a ceremony on October 14. Alghareeb was recognized for his research on petroleum reservoir modeling and decision-making, as well as for his academic performance. His thesis, “Optimal Reservoir Management Decision-Making Using Adaptive Reduced-order Models,” previously won a large Seed Fund grant from the MIT Energy Initiative.
