Professor Otto X. Cordero was selected to receive the 2016-2018 Doherty Professorship in Ocean Utilization for his work on Systems Ecology of Particle Attached Microbial Communities. The two-year chair paves the way for promising, non-tenured professors to undertake marine-related research that will further innovative uses of the ocean’s resources. Cordero, who joined the faculty in July 2015, studies the ecology and evolution of natural microbial collectives.
