Professor Otto X. Cordero was selected as one of eleven MIT recipients of the 2016 Sloan Research Fellowship – a $50,000 fellowship given to early-career scientists and scholars whose achievements and potential identify them as rising stars among the next generation of scientific leaders. Cordero, who joined the faculty in July 2015, studies the ecology and evolution of natural microbial collectives. In particular, his work is centered on understanding how social and ecological interactions at a small scale impact the various global dynamics of microbial ecosystems. Read the article.
