Professor Admir Masic was selected to receive the WITec 2016 Gold Paper Award for his microscopic analysis of the teeth of the red sea urchin. Masic, a Raman microscopy specialist who joined the CEE faculty in September 2015, and two other scientists used confocal Raman microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) to analyze the molecular and elemental composition of the teeth.
