At a remote village in Rwanda, a clinic faced chronic shortages of water during the nation’s twice-yearly dry seasons. Collecting rainwater during the rainy periods was the obvious answer, but figuring out how to do so safely and economically was not a trivial problem. CEE Senior Lecturer Peter Shanahan and alumnus Kelly Doyle S.M. ’08 studied the problem and offer some answers in a paper published in the February issue of the Journal of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Development.
