CEE faculty to participate in new research program on bus rapid transit

A consortium involving MIT-Portugal Program Transportation Systems and IST-Lisbon has been awarded a $3.5 million, five-year grant from the Volvo Research and Education Foundation to establish a Center of Excellence on Bus Rapid Transit. The consortium is headed by Juan Carlos Muñoz of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, who will spend next year at MIT hosted by CEE. MIT collaborators include CEE Professor Nigel Wilson; Chris Zegras, assistant professor in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning; and Fred Salvucci, senior lecturer in CEE. Read a news story.
