On Sept. 28, MIT and the OCP (Office Chérifien des Phosphates) Group of Morocco made official its joint collaboration on a new program – an opportunity for MIT engagement in the development of the School of Engineering at the Moroccan university, King Mohammed VI Polytechnic. CEE Professor Elfatih Eltahir will serve as the program director for this CEE-housed initiative. The Mohammed VI Polytechnic University, the heart of the new Green City launched in 2009 by King Mohammed VI under OCP’s large-scale strategic project and located between Casablanca and Marrakesh, will emphasize research and development in areas critical to OCP Group’s development and to the economic, social and environmental future of Morocco. Funding support is $5.25 million over five years. Please see here for the pictures of Monday’s program signing ceremony.
