Professor Osorio strengthens connections within MIT community
On October 7, Professor Carolina Osorio presented to the MIT Employee Resources Group at a luncheon organized in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage month. The event was an opportunity for MIT diverse staff to learn about the Institute’s research and the career progression of a female faculty member of Colombian decent. Osorio discussed her development of research techniques to improve the design and operations of transportation systems intended to reduce the economic, energy and environmental impacts of traffic congestion. Osorio, recipient of the MIT Technology Review EmTech Colombia TR35 Award and the 2014 Maseeh Excellence in Teaching Award, also discussed her academic career as a professor and decision to join MIT.
