Professor Ulm explores the “physics of dirty materials and messy systems”

CEE Professor Franz-Josef Ulm works on enhancing concrete manufacturing, urban architecture, and gas shale recovery in the effort to make each more efficient and durable. Beyond stronger concrete and more resilient cities, Ulm’s research also has the potential to translate into bigger applications, namely such as more efficient automotive fuel consumption, less flooding damage, and lower utility bills.
