Carolina Osorio receives Early Career Award from National Science Foundation
The National Science Foundation (NSF) announced this month that CEE Assistant Professor Carolina Osorio will receive a 2014 Early Career Award for her project, “Simulation-Based Optimization Techniques for Urban Transportation Problems.” The Early Career Award is the NSF’s most prestigious award for young researchers. With the award, Osorio will continue development of simulation-based optimization algorithms that address challenging traffic management problems in congested urban areas around the world. Osorio’s work in operations research focuses on improving transportation systems to mitigate the economic, energy, environmental and human-health impacts of urban congestion; improve reliability and robustness; and enhance traveler experience.
