Graduate student Rory Clune has been awarded the Marvin E. Goody Award for spring 2010 for his thesis proposal, “The Immersed Environment Approach to User-Controlled and Algorithmically Driven Explorative Structural Design.” The $5,000 award goes to an MIT graduate student in any department at MIT who is expecting to complete his or her Master’s thesis at the end of the following term and whose thesis explores the bond between good design and good building, extends the horizons of existing building techniques and materials, and fosters links between the academic world and the building industry.
