[fusion_text]New research from Professor Oral Buyukozturk and research scientist Kunal Kupwade-Patil shows that mixing discarded plastic bottles, in the form of flakes exposed to harmless irradiation, with cement paste can make stronger concrete. The project began as an undergraduate project and was conducted with researchers from the Department of Nuclear Science and Engineering. The paper was published in the journal Waste Management.
