Buehler to receive inaugural Leonardo da Vinci Award

Markus BuehlerProfessor Markus Buehler will receive the ASCE Engineering Mechanics Institute’s Leonardo da Vinci Award for his “pioneering research in the integration of atomistic simulation with methods of continuum mechanics, applied to the multiscale modeling of the structure and mechanical behavior of biological and protein-based materials.” The award recognizes outstanding young investigators for groundbreaking developments in engineering mechanics and mechanical sciences. Buehler will receive the award June 3 during the EMI conference at Northeastern University. This is the first year the award has been given.
