Mei Distinguished Speaker Series (DSS) seminar titled, “From Individual Behavior to Collective Dynamics: Modeling and control of congestions waves in highway networks”. The first DSS of the fall 2015, Zhang’s talk will focus on the behavioral underpinning of the classical kinematic wave model Lighthill, Whitham and Richards (LWR), its properties and limitations, and its extensions to model traffic flow in a road network.
